Sight glass finds best uses in the industrial setting to detect and observe the flow of industrial liquids. What is a sight glass? The sight glass is a liquid level gauge. This can be a transparent tube through which the tank operator observes the level of liquid contained in the tube.
The sight glass or liquid level gauge performs two main functions.
For flow indication The sight glass is placed inside a tube. It is fitted therein to determine if the liquid is flowing efficiently. Viewing of this flow can be seen through sight glass window. The observation will alarm the observer when there is blocked valve in the pipe line, steam traps, strainers or other parts that will adversely affect the performance, efficiency and safety of the pipeline from which the liquid flows.
For inspection process The sight glass window will show the color of the passing liquid in the different stages of production. Any deviation from the expected hue will compel execution of different adjustments that can be beneficial to the products of the industrial company.
For both of these functions, this sight glass can be equipped with sight window from which the fluid can be more clearly viewed. The materials and styles can be varied. The sight window is constructed from plastic or glass and this sight glass window is the way from which you can observe the flow of liquid. The model can be double glass, single glass and many other styles.
The different industries where the sight windows are used are very plentiful. Among these are the food and beverage industry, petrochemical plants, sprinkler systems and water reservoir.
In the food and beverage industry, the taste of the product had to be maintained and the liquid sensors and gauges are used to check the quality and standard taste. In the petrochemical industries, the sight glasses are instruments to ascertain the smooth running of the corrosive acids. The sprinkler systems contain cleaning agents which need to be monitored by liquid level gauges. Sight glasses detect the water levels in the big water reservoirs such that they can be observed in connection with the production of electricity. Many of these sight glasses are equipped with sight windows which will facilitate the liquid monitoring. The observer has a definite point for making his observations.
